Friday morning run. Feeling good and out the door about 9:00. Ran about 2.5 miles not too hot and a slight breeze. Thinking bout the day. A bit of time traveling for me today. As I was running on my last street I saw a man who runs on the island where I run and he was walking, obviously cooling down as he was getting nearer to home. We exchanged ’ good mornings’ as we usually do or a little wave. We have never spoken until this morning although we’ve both been running the same streets for a few years. We stopped to talk for a couple of minutes about the nice new neighbors who are friends of mine and then we talked about running. He and his wife used to run half marathons, 10Ks, and 5Ks and at sometime had traveled to California for a run. His wife fell during the run and hurt her knee bad enough to change her running life to a walking life. He also told me that he had broken his ankle a few years ago and is now obviously running again but not at the pace or milage he used to. He said that once he slowed his pace his injuries decreased. I obviously have knee issues, running with braces on my knees, and I have a bandage on my left hand from my crazy fall earlier in the week. We said our ’have a nice day’s and I continued down and around the street to my busy Friday. Runners often share the aches and pains of running but we all know the benefits too. For me it clears my mind, gives me time to think and work out the day ahead , and helps me feel strong in body and in attitude as I lunge into my day.
